    Description

    Souvenir plate made circa 1900 to commemorate the Dalton Gang's 1892 Last Raid in Coffeyville, Kansas.
    The plate was made by the German company Wheelock for Wells Brothers, a general store located in Coffeyville right in the middle of the famous Dalton Gang shoot out. Souvenir china was popular at this time as more Americans began to travel and buy souvenirs to remember their trips.
    The six inch, reticulated plate is in very good condition especially considering it is over 100 years old.  I see no chips or cracks.  There are some small spots where the gold gilding has warn off. There are also a few tiny black flecks in the painted scene which may be under the glaze and original to the piece.  Please look at all pictures as the photographs are part of this item's description.
