Historical Note: The Hingham Agricultural and Horticultural Society was organized on November 10, 1858. The first president and chief sponsor of the society was Albert Fearing. Fearing lived in Boston for part of his life, but just before the Civil War he sold his small farm to buy a large piece of land in his home town of Hingham.
