Bidder wins the beautiful 3D & coveted example of 5-7/8” x 5-7/8”, 2 lb, 2 ounce museum quality Waldron Shale root system pictured. The peak of this crinoid hold fast rises almost an inch from the surface as shown in the pictures. This particular piece will also sit safely flat on its edge allowing the fossil to be safely fully displayed on a shelf .
I was part of a small group of 6 fossil enthusiasts that opened a 2 year private dig at the flooded, abandoned & closed Blue Springs Quarry near my home close to Waldron, Indiana in 2006. Much of the material I found was stored in my barn, located 4 miles from the dig site, and I recently have been having some of this material professionally prepared. I will also include a 4”x6” colored photo print of the dig operations shown in the auction photos. This fossil will also mail from the Waldron, Indiana post office if you care to track your auction ;)- I don’t prep fossils, and my prep person charges an hour. He had over 1.5 hours (.50) in prep time with his air abrasive on this fossil and as fyi … eBay takes 11% and Uncle Sam another 20% of selling price, so when I say the .99 starting price is a token start , I’m not kidding ;). I personally found this fossil, sawcut it from the matrix w a concrete saw and moved it to my barn almost 17 years ago . Starting price less then prep cost… it’s a beauty, Bud with confidence
