Gastropod fossils chalcedony quartz replacement from the Jurassic age sized approximately 1/4 to 1 1/4 inch mined in Talsinte,Morocco in 1/8 pound lots containing 20 plus pieces scooped from fossils as pictured.Gastropods are invertebrate animals that make up the largest class in the phylum Mollusca. Examples of common gastropods include all varieties of snails, abalone, limpets,as well as land and sea slugs.Cassiopidae is an extinct family of sea snails,a marine gastropod mollusca.Gastropods first appeared in the fossil record during the early Cambrian period, approximately 550 million years ago and these fossils are from the cretaceous period about 100 million years ago and come from the Atlas mountains in northern Africa.These fossils are just as they came out of the ground and as with all mine rough material some pieces may have matrix rock attached and other pieces may be only a portion of a complete fossil but most are nice specimens.Track Page Views With
