Description

Moving between continents one realises the amount of stuff collected over a lifetime. I really need to lighten the load, while I may part with the objects, the memories of many happy hours spent collecting them will remain forever.
All listed gastropods and bivalves from the late Pliocene Red Crag were
collected over a decade ago during a single visit to the classic site of Walton-on-the-Naze on a very cold winter day, when a fresh slumpa
ge produced
exceptionally good conditions. Since then new sea defences have been built which reduced erosion to a minimum, there is now very little new material.
This is an exceptional huge Neptunea angulata (formerly Neptunea contraria), the prize find from the Red Crag. They normally grow to 6-7cm, this monster is a good 50% bigger, never even saw photos of one of this size.
