For those of you who have never heard of Janice Tenorio she comes from a long line of
Santo Domingo artists who have always done things the traditional way. Like her parents and grandparents before her she makes everything that goes into her necklaces by
hand
. The heishi or beads are cut then hand rolled and polished by the artist or members of her family. These are NOT beads that are made of plastic and molded by a machine somewhere in Asia, they are the real deal made from authentic Turquoise or Mediterranean coral. Janice, at one time worked at the well known Wright's Indian Art in Old Town Albuquerque where her heishi necklaces are in high demand. They still have some for sale so I invite you to compare prices.
This necklace is comprised of 20 strands of hand rolled rounded 4 mm Arizona turquoise with 3.5 mm roundel coral beads separated by 2 mm shell heishi. Approximately 26 inches in length.
Total weight of the necklace is 225 g.
