    Description

Invitation to Issac Morse, upper class San Franciscan who owned canning factories in California. Arrived here from Massachusetts in the late 1850s. For bidding an original paper invitation to him, to attend the first annual SF Chamber Of Commerce Banquet at the Palace Hotel on Thursday May 5th 1887. Across the top of the invitation: Oro en Paz Fierro en Guerra  " Gold in Peace Iron In War " the official San Francisco Motto. Quite a fascinating artifact from early San Francisco! Measures 7-3/4 x 9-7/8 inches, opened up. Really nice shape, was removed very successfully from Morse's scrapbook, slight evidence of that, and some minor toning. Low initial bid, no reserve. To be sent Priority Mail.
