The wood and ebony of chopsticks is a precious wood with heavyness and jet-black luster that has been favored by black piano keys and chess pieces.
It is also a tree known for its excellent durability, and is often used for golf club heads and percussion instruments.
However, the processing of sculptures and the like is difficult, and ebony can only be handled by a limited number of craftsmen.
Laser engraving the surface of the hard ebony and manually submerging silver foil in the excavated grooves one by one, drawing two rams and REMs on a campus only a few cm wide.
After the labor and time have been spared, the craftsman dyes each one by hand.
This dyeing is not just a painting, but a traditional technique of Wakasa, a Japanese tradition with a history of more than 400 years.
The ebony chopsticks, carefully crafted by a handful of craftsmen, are lifelong.
