Great Stereo Slide Viewer -
Upgraded to 8p by DrT
Stereo Realist Red Button viewer 8p
In perfect working condition but with ONE cosmetic issue:
Repaired crack at the top
This viewer has been reconditioned and upgraded by myself. In addition to my standard repair service, I have done the following:
Disassemble
viewer completely
Widen (to sets of) apertures to 8p (36mm wide, capable of viewing RBT 33mm stereo slides)
Install
custom reflector
that does not block the edges of slides and diffuses light properly
Paint interior
of lamp compartment
Install an
LED bulb
( value)
Clean lenses
Clean electrical contacts
Lubricate
key parts while putting back together
Clean and polish
case
and
logo
Repaint logo
Put
4 friction pads
at the bottom of the viewer to minimize wear and increase friction
Put everything back together and
check
for
proper operation
For this service (which I can do to your viewer too), I charge , plus return shipping.
In summary,
with this viewer, you can view your Realist format stereo slides without any problem, but, in addition, you can view stereo slides mounted in wider mounts
.
These wider slides can be taken with 7p (European) format cameras, like the Belplasca or the Busch Verascope, or they can be taken with full frame stereo cameras like the RBT cameras or twin camera rigs, or single camera stereo pairs taken with slide bars, etc.  THEY MUST BE MOUNTED IN STANDARD STEREO MOUNTS (41x101mm or 1 5/8 x 4 inches). I offer RBT mounts with a variety of opening on my ebay store.
If you only want a viewer to view standard stereo slides, then you can save some money by buying a different viewer. It is a good idea to buy this one if you can take advantage of the widening of the apertures.
