: "Bethlehem was founded in 1806, Followed by Rochester and Navarre. Through the efforts of James Duncan
they were incorporated into one village named Navarre after King Henry of Navarre.
The Ohio Canal, completed in 1830, brought prosperity to the village.
A bakery, Navarre's main industry today was established by Alfred Nickles in 1909."
